Big weekend for Alluvium
Friday, April 23rd, 2010That’s right. The Annual infamous Alluvium Neighborhood Yard Sale is this Saturday from 8:00-2:00pm. Look for the orange balloons. (people without balloons probably did not pay to participate and are free loading. I hate to call you out but a lot of time and effort and some expense go into this event and we only ask for $5).
I’ve had great response from people on craigslist looking to come out and shop so get ready. And if you have unsold items at the end of the sale, donate them to Habitat for Humanity ReStore - receive a tax write-off for your donation and know that your items will ultimately help build affordable houses in

Kelli form South Jersey Java is giving out FREE COFFEE with any purchase during the yard sale. Stop in and thank them for their support and get one to go.
I also want to shout out THANKS to all those neighbors who helped out with the Spring cleanup on Victor Blvd. last weekend.
Spring Clean Up & Yard Sale, etc.
Saturday, April 10th, 2010The Annual Spring clean up on Victor Blvd. Is coming up next Saturday on April 17th. The clean up is held every year around this time. To join your neighbors and help out for an hour meet up at Giangulio Field on Victor Blvd. at 10:00am. If you see your neighbors on Victor Blvd Saturday morning. HONK your horn and show your support for Alluvium.
Don’t forget the Annual Alluvium Yard Sale on Saturday April 24th.
Our fellow Alluvium resident, Allen Kelmer (Woodhurst Dr) formally of Current Electric has formed a new company called ARK Electric. Allen’s ready to help with all your residential and commercial electrical needs. Give him a call at 856-204-2000 and tell him MyAlluvium sent you.
Go see “Hot Tub Time Machine”. Guaranteed to make you laugh (did we really dress like that back then?).

Sunday March 28th, 2010
Sunday, March 28th, 2010It’s really cold outside. No yard work for me this weekend.
We went to the Ritz Showcase movie theater last night. Guess what. It has been sold again. It is no longer owned by National Amusements. It is now called “Rave Motion Pictures Ritz Center”. Everytime this movie house changes owners it begins to look more and more like your standard multiplex. I use to think we were special here in Voorhees when this theater first opened. The Ritz was really special. But not anymore. There are 2 big things I noticed last night besides the new names and uniforms. The first is the big bucket popcorn they now offer. I consider this a plus. The second is the commercials they now play before the previews. If I want to see TV style commercials I can stay home.
By the way, we saw the new Ben Stiller film “Greenberg”. I’m a big BS fan and I knew going in that this was not a comedy. What I didn’t know was how lame this film was. Don’t waste your time.

Alluvium Update 3-23-2010
Wednesday, March 24th, 2010It’s time to start getting ready for the annual Alluvium Yard Sale coming up on April 24th. I will be posting pictures on the website so if you have anything special for sale send me a picture and your address (or your Street name if you want to remain anonymous) and I will post it on the site. I went to a seminar today sponsored by the Rutgers Family Business Association and to my surprise one of our neighbors, Judy Raines was the speaker. Judy is the president of Webmarcom, a company specializing in all aspects of web marketing. She is a dynamite speaker and a lot of fun. I learned a lot in the 2 hours we were together. If you want to learn more about how to use social media in your business check out Judy at www.webmarcom.net

Saturday, March 20th, 2010I’m loving this weather. I finally had a chance to try a restaurant I’ve been wanting to go to for years. Graziano’s on the White Horse Pike in Chiselhurst. You have probably drove by it many times and would never think of stopping in but let me tell you, the next time you have a craving for some great Italian food you have got to try this place. This is an old fashioned family owned place with a traditional as well as some unique dishes that you will not find anywhere else. Bottle of reds, a bottle of whites, this could have been the Italian Restaurant Billy Joel was singing about.

Monday, March 15th, 2010Memorial Day is here….Time for fun in the sun!
Sunday, January 31st, 2010We are having great weather this Memorial Day weekend. Going down to the shore (actually heading East is more accurate) seams to be the thing to do.
I found an above average website for New Jersey covering the best of this and the best of that. It also has just about everything to do in NJ that you can think of plus a few things you never knew.
Here is the link. http://www.new-jersey-leisure-guide.com/
Don’t forget the sunscreen.
Keep it in the neighborhood…
Sunday, January 17th, 2010A few weeks ago I told you about a great electrician in our neighborhood, Allen from ARK Electric, www.arkelectricllc.com 856-204-2000.
Now I’ve got to tell you about another neighbor. Tim & Kathy of Tim’s Auto Repair in Laurel Springs. Tim has been working on my cars for many years. I don’t know a whole lot about cars and I used to feel vulnerable whenever I would get my cars serviced. How do you know your mechanic is doing right by you? You see that’s what’s great about doing business with a neighbor. Your neighbor will do right by you and won’t take advantage. So give Tim a call at 856-346-9177.
There is another thing I love about using Tim. I get to drop my car off at his house and he drives it in to his shop, does the necessary work and then brings it back home. So convenient. Lets keep it in the neighborhood and support one another.
If you have a neighbor or someone to recommend, let us know.

I've got a great movie for you…
Wednesday, January 13th, 2010If the idea of seeing another over rated blockbuster or special effects film is enough to keep you out of the theater then do I have a surprise for you.
Go see “City Island” playing at the Ritz Rave movie theater. It was a surprisingly great film. One of those that usually slips through with out a notice but if you catch it, it becomes one of your favorites of all times. Starring Andy Garcia and Julianna Margulies it is about a somewhat dysfunctional family (just like we all have). Terrific characters and great acting along with an excellent story makes this film the sleeper of the year. Make a note if you don’t catch it in the theaters to rent it once it is out on DVD.
